| The Crying Stone |
Hazrat Moosa was once passing by a place when he miraculously heard a stone crying very loudly. He asked the stone as to why it was crying. The stone replied that it was crying due to the Qur'aanic verse: |
| |
"It's (Hellfire) fuel is mankind and stones"
Al-Baqarah Chapter 2 : Verse 25 (part)
Hazrat Moosa made dua to ALLAH for this stone not to be thrown in Jahannam (Hell) and consoled the stone. The stone instantly became happy and stopped crying. |
After a period of time, Hazrat Moosa passed the same place and heard the same stone crying again, even after he had given it glad tidings of not being thrown in Jahannam. |
The stone replied: "O Moosa! That glad tiding was as a result of my crying, therefore why should I stop an act through which I received such a great favour!" |
Moral: In the same way, after asking forgiveness and repentence from sins, Muslims should not forget to keep on making Dua and turning towards ALLAH in gratitude for his infinite mercy. (Quoted from Moulana Ashraf Ali thaanvi r.a) |
